really cute snail mail and other stuff

I’ve been kind of busy lately. (Actually, it rained today, so I literally just laid around in bed scanning the IMDB pages of Saved by the Bell* actors). But really, I’ve been working three jobs. Three! And to think, in my dreams I work for zero and I’m retired, sipping on rum and cokes, watching reruns of Sex and the City while in my bed surrounded by my collection of MNZ Roberta heels in every color. I was almost living the dream (minus the shoes) and I had to go and ruin it.
One of my new gigs is writing for Brit + Co, a maker blog. While I was learning calligraphy and turning back the hands of time to when I still wrote handwritten letters, I came across Em O’Donnel’s adorable snail mail. From The Grand Budapest Hotel to paper cacti to colorful confetti, her letters just have a wonderfully childlike quality to them. (She’s got great taste in vintage chotchkies that she posts on her blog Thimble, too). Because I was so charmed by her snail mail, I did an interview with Em for Brit + Co. And who knows? I might send my girlfriends letters and not stupid texts this Valentine’s Day.
Also, I’ve been really good and zen-y lately. I’m not sure why, but I woke up early one morning and made Andrew whole wheat pancakes. I drink tea every day. I started listening to the On Being podcast. I finished reading a book (it had pictures, but it still counts!). I stopped wearing foundation. That’s a high level for me.
2015 – the year of high levels!
*The Saved by the Bell reunion on Jimmy Fallon was like a nice, warm cup of childhood nostalgia. And two words: Zack. Attack. Even with the wig mojo of a fake and plastic Ken doll, the dude can get it.
